Laura is the author of over 40 books. She has been writing fiction since childhood and always knew she wanted to be a professional writer.
Laura was born and educated on the Isle of Wight, where she still lives with her husband, also an Islander. They have a daughter, who trained as a nurse and who is currently involved in educational nursing, and a son, who is an actor. They also have one young grandson.
For many years, while the reality of becoming a professional writer was still a dream, Laura worked in other areas: as a pharmaceutical dispenser, an auxiliary nurse, in tourism (owning and running a busy guesthouse), and more recently as a clerical assistant in a local group practice. All of these experiences have given her invaluable insight toward her writing career.
Her hobbies and pastimes include oil painting—many of her paintings have been sold—reading, walking the Wight with her husband, and eating out with friends. She also enjoys traveling, mainly touring and sightseeing. Her other interests include history, art, music (her tastes range from classical to rock), theatre, and film.
When Harlequin published her first book in 1989 she was able to incorporate her medical experience into creating medical romance stories. She turned full-time professional in 1991 when she gave up her day job in order to concentrate on her writing career.
Laura has tutored in creative writing and has appeared on regional television talking about her work as a writer. She attends workshops, seminars, and conferences, and has addressed many groups. She has written over 40 medical romances, and in recent years she has had eight books for children published.
