Romance novels are the most searched genre at FictionDB. Romance can encompass every sub-genre too. As long as the primary focus of the story involves romance of some sort, visitors can tag these titles as Romance.
Historically, romance novels have required a happily-ever-after (HEA), but more recent interpretations of the genre have included happily-for-now where the future relationship is unknown.
The Romance genre designation on our site is one of several top-level genres, so this list will include all sub-genres. A novel can be assigned any number of genres and sub-genres, so a particular title can appear on multiple genre lists. Some of the most popular romance sub-genres are Contemporary Romance and Historical Romance although Romantasy has recently become very popular (we designate this as Fantasy Romance).
To see other sub-genres, click on any book on the site and navigate to the genres section of the book detail page.
