Life as a modern vampire has its perks: raves, espresso bars, and, of course, online shoe shopping. Now, to save her not-quite-life, she has to find Burke and uncover his secret before she literally fades into oblivion.

As she sensed him building up, a series of growls growing in his throat, Aurel also felt herself being pushed to the edge, and when he finally released everything he had, practically impaling her, she struck. As she drove her fangs deep into his neck, filling him with her venom, she couldn't be sure which gasps were passionate and which were of shock. It didn't matter. Both created a delightfully arousing orchestra as she climaxed, a wave of bliss washing over her body and his blood washing over her tongue. Burke shuddered and shook as he poured himself into her, but her bite was deep and she did not waver. His blood was rich in a way she hadn't experienced before. Over the centuries her palate had evolved to appreciate the range of tastes that human blood offered, each type offering its own unique attractions. But Burke was singularly different. His blood was somehow...exotic. Burke's thrusts slowed and still she fed; he stopped trying to drive himself inside, his full weight upon her now, and still she fed. Aurel sucked him with a hunger she'd never felt before, and it was only her desire to see him live that finally drew her mouth from his wound.
