True, she'd always known she was slated to take over running the family hotel sometime. Now, her father's bad health meant it would be sooner rather than later.

The Clinton hotel had a disadvantage--it was old, shabby and wasn't competing with its rival, the Kendrick Kansas City. What's more, Lacey soon realized she lacked the killer instinct to put it back on its feet.
