But problems brew as environmentalists fiercely protest the development, and slope-side condo owners suffer a rash of mysterious burglaries. Enter Joe Gunther, who quickly discovers that the most likely thief has vanished-leaving behind a dead girlfriend--and that some of the protesters have more on their agendas than Mother Nature.
