Nowhere, U.S.A., is Ned "Dog" Oglivie's destination--as long as it leads him to good fishing and a place to park his beaten RV and enjoy the vodka-Tang oblivion his lost soul craves. The road takes him to Black Earth, Wisconsin, where he discovers fellow fly fisherman and local environmental agitator Jake Jacobs facedown in a stream. Dog decides he'd better stay awhile.
Mostly it's because of Melvina Racheletta O'Malley--just call her Junior--whose aging father is the prime suspect thanks to some loud threats he made against Jacobs. The victim had been stirring up a lot of enmity in Black Earth, and Dog has a few theories churning. A seasoned trout hound, he's one step ahead of the local law, up to his waders in the muck of something much darker than muddy waters....
