Lake Tahoe in the year 1900, harbored a legend. The man called Wig Blackhammer found himself torn between his European and Native American heritage, new industrialized nation, and a woman doctor. The adventures the mountain man and lady doctor experienced formed a bond of lasting love and perpetual heartache. Blackhammer pursued his love, Doctor Veronica Goldman, to her home town of San Francisco. There, villainy took many forms, and friends from the Barbary Coast and China Town meant the difference between life and death. Blackhammer, rejected by Veronica, returned to Lake Tahoe married to a Chinese woman that saved his life more than once. This relationship did not last, however, as his heart remained with his doctor love in San Francisco. Near-death injuries and water wars between ranchers and corporate outlaws, brought the ‘Legend' yet another wife, Geneva Kaye, with whom he had children and six years of bliss. The fateful decision to take their boys to visit friends and relatives in San Francisco in June of 1906 brought an end to peace. Between Geneva's evil father, murderous criminals and a horrendous earthquake that took the life of his wife, Blackhammer knew all was lost. The mountain man gained a new title - Jonah. Bad luck followed him and destroyed the people he loved. One person could turn his life around if she could summon the courage - a beautiful doctor with demons of her own.
