Mel and Ellen Jones have been forced to address the harsh reality of becoming a family with no income, thus a choice to move or lose everything must be made. Mel's parents who reside in a rural community in Maplesville, Oregon welcome them home with opened arms, so happy that their son and his family have made the decision to move back to Mel's birthplace. Within two years the family regains financial independence and is once again able to find a place of their own. With little trouble they luck up on an old yet stately home only a few miles from Mel's parent's home. Ellen is immediately drawn to the grandeur the house possesses and her mind encompasses what the home was and will soon be again. In her efforts to make the house much more than just a home for her family they soon learn this is a house with many secrets and a questionable history, a home sharing a mysterious kinship with this special family, a home which seems to possess them in more ways than even they are aware. Their son Keith is content in his new environment; satisfied with the exploration it offers while their daughter Lisa is tormented and on edge, refusing to get too comfortable within the walls as the house seems to come alive with its residual energy dead-set on claiming it's inhabitants.
