At Andrew Penarth's request, Lisa Morris travels to Corfu to sort out his daughter Suzy and her relationship with Max Hallorahan. Suzy is now eighteen and has inherited her mother's money, and Andrew suspects that Max has his eye on it. Once Andrew and Max had worked together publicising the plight of endangered animals and plants, but since quarelling had been implacable enemies. However, when Lisa arrives she discovers that Suzy has gone sailing for a few days with friends. Lisa wonders why she finds Max's presence so overpowering...is he also a master of deception?
