Frank Chesney knew the Comanche country as no other white man did. To the Qua-ha-da Comanches he was “Bloody Knife,” and they lusted for his scalp. When this Texas woman came to him it was to ask his help. Her name was Henrietta Wagner, and her sister was a prisoner of the hostiles. But Frank Chesney had no sympathy. He could still remember that the whites had murdered his own Indian wife -- why should he fight for them now?
Then a band of young bucks slaughtered a woodcutting detail, the troops from Fort Hazard took the field, Henrietta Wagner herself fell into the hands of the savages.
And Frank Chesney -- a man with bitter memories -- found himself leading white soldiers into the Comanche country.
…to punish the raiders and rescue this golden-haired Texan woman…if she was still alive.
