It's summer vacation, and Robert is off to Camp Chicopee whether he likes it or not (he doesn't). Even though camp looks lame, Robert manages to make a new friend -- Zach, who knows plenty of jokes -- and to avoid the irritating Lester, who's pushy and makes a lot of noise. But every time he thinks camp might be starting to get fun, a new problem pops up to torture him. First, he has to learn how to swim even though he's terrified of water. Then, Zach throws a garden snake at the girls on the bus and for some reason blames Robert. Next, Molly the counselor's whistle disappears, and guess who Zach accuses of stealing it?
In Robert Goes to Camp, Robert learns his lesson about prejudging people and comes to understand what true friendship is all about. Paul Brewer's lively illustrations and Barbara Seuling's trademark fast pacing, twist-and-turn plotting, and vivid characterization make this an exciting addition to the series.
