How Flick had waited for this first day to go out with his brother and sisters to see the "outside world." The excitement was almost too much to bear as they all got in line. Mother had explained all of the rules and signals over and over again, for a prairie dog must always be alert. "Remember to think-think-think" warned his mother as the young family moved out of the tunnel for their first glimpse of the big "outside world." "Oh, it's so beautiful!" Flick's sister exclaimed as she lead the others into the daylight.
Curious little Flick learns many valuable lessons, especially about telling the truth, as he discovers all the excitement and dangers for a youngster growing up in Prairie Dog Town.
