Goldman and Casca meet in Berlin, a chance meeting that gives Casca the opportunity to tell of one of his more contemporary adventures as a soldier for the Third Reich fighting the Russians.
It was easy for Casca to go along with some of the basic premise behind the Nazi war machine. These were soldiers, hard fighting men born of the same militaristic outlook that had sustained him since that day at Calvary. But when the war went -bad, when Casca lost faith in the leaders, he had no choice but to visit the bunker in Berlin, a visit as important to the world as any act he had committed.
