Murder at Plimoth Plantation
Alarmed by a call from Caroline, her 18-year-old niece who works as an "interpreter" at the famous seventeenth-century village in Plymouth, Massachusetts, writer Miranda Lewis arrives at the historic tourist spot where Caroline plays the part of a pilgrim maid, reenacting the daily life of the legendary Mayflower colony.

But here at Plimoth Plantation, Miranda also discovers protesting Indians, hostile Pilgrims...and murder. When the decapitated head of Miles Standish -- or rather, the man who plays him -- rolls out of a wicker basket, suspicion falls on Caroline, who had a heated argument with the victim the night before.

Determined to prove her niece innocent, Miranda starts nosing into the lives of the "interpreters" and soon discovers a sordid history of spilled blood, vengeance and a killer bent on a very permanent kind of reenactment.
