After his death, she decided to stay on postwar Italy and open a small hotel, Villa Guilia, catering mostly for the English. But when Major Baghot died in her best room, and his widow refused to leave, Nan realized her life would have to change. Life had been tranquil until an eccentric group of guests check in to the cozy inn. As colorful as they are beautiful, the characters turn Nan's life upside-down, and the long-awaited arrival of the elusive Lily cannot come too soon, for it promises to put an end to all the chaos.
