Isadora Singer is not your typical Mail Order Bride. With her unfashionable style, her complexion too pale and her eyes too ice-blue, and her almost scrawny frame shoved into unflattering garments, she is hardly the picture of loveliness a prospective groom might reasonably expect.
She immediately points out her flaws to her betrothed, Daniel Falcon, at their first meeting. As if he can't see every one of them, right away. As if she's hoping he'll back out of their agreement. Sparks fly; animosity flares; and sarcasm rules nearly every word of their limited conversation.
Thus the tone is set for a marriage contract which Dan isn't interested in honoring, anyway.
A wiser head prevails -- mainly that of his father, Charlie, who has gotten three older sons married and isn't about to let the youngest, and least tractable one, slip away.
Izzy's mother-in-law, Miranda, stands firmly at her side and defends the most puzzling, worrisome aspects of her behavior. Even when, after the wedding ceremony is finally performed, Izzy moves out of their new house before she has actually moved in.
Two proud, volatile personalities, and neither willing to give an inch on any issue.
