Mrs. Kerry Sanders, that very wealthy American lady, had engaged Jonah Dereham, ex-prize-winning jockey, to buy a steeplechaser for the son of a special friend. The son was Nicol Brevett, an aggressive young man with a sudden, dangerous temper.
