Dr. Deirdre "Didi" Nightingale is finding the dwindling dairy industry hard on her practice--and her pocketbook. Thinking that racehorses might be the winning ticket to more business, she heads to a vet conference in Atlantic City to find out. But when Didi finds a famous horse doctor mysteriously murdered, and his widow offers her a hefty sum to edit his unfinished book, she's pulled into a conspiracy where the stakes are high and life seems to be cheap.
