Algonquin Legacy is the final novel in the series, which began nearly ten years ago with I Am Algonquin (2013), followed by Algonquin Spring (2015), and Algonquin Sunset (2017): published by Dundurn Press. The series takes place in the early 1300s on both sides of the St. Lawrence River Valley, the Great Lakes, and to the Rocky Mountains. It follows an Algonquin Indigenous family unit as it fights to survive in the harsh climate of warfare, shelter from the elements, and solve their constant quest for food in this precontact era. Readers are introduced to the Algonquin, Anishinaabe, Lakota, Lakȟóta, Mi ́kmaq, and Mohawk languages as they are used in the vernacular in the four novels. A glossary at the end serves as a useful guide for further learning.
