Description
It is the summer of 1776. The battles of Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill have been fought, forcing Washington into retreat. Now a large British force under General Guy Carleton has landed in Canada and means to push south through the chain of lakes and waterways to join with General Clinton in New York City and split the Colonies. The only thing standing in their way is General Benedict Arnold's ragtag bunch of Continentals, militia and seamen at the bottom of Lake Champlain. This is the story of Kinkaid's first assignment as a Continental naval officer, sent to advise General Arnold in the building and fighting of an inland fleet of gunboats that finds him participating in the first naval action of the Revolutionary War.
