About the Author

Robin Cook is credited for giving the thriller genre a "medical" touch. Educated at Columbia Medical School and after doing a residency in general surgery, Cook served in the Navy. After completing his time in the Navy, he was discharged as a Lieutenant Commander. He then did a second residency in ophthalmology at Harvard. He started a private practice and also worked for Harvard in both their public policy and medical schools.

Thirty-four years after publishing his first novel, Coma, Cook is still a leader in the medical thriller genre. He has written over twenty-eight novels that have been translated in over forty languages, all of which have been New York Times Bestsellers. Many of his novels have been turned into successful movies for both film and television including Coma as a feature film. His most recent novel, Cure, was published in August 2010. He currently lives in Florida.
