Belva Plain lived in New Jersey for twenty years with her husband, an opthalmologist, and children. After graduating from Barnard College she wrote several short stories for women's magazines, latr phasing herself out of writing in order to concentrate on her family.
Evergreen was her first novel when she returned to writing.
