A slipshod collective of near-narratives, Young Husbands is the book Matt Marshall spent two years trying not to write. Stories of ghosts, dead dogs, lesbian detectives, and revenge revenge revenge, the author could doubtlessly have dedicated his time and effort to superior tasks -- but like the people we hurt, the children we don't mean to make, and the marriages we agree to with a shortsighted notion of eternity, Young Husbands is a wordy but willful regret, a voluntary mistake.
