In the Year of the Unicorn, the Were Riders came out of the Waste to help the men of the High Halleck beat the Hounds of Alizon from their borders.

The Were Riders wore the shape of men, but they were not human. The price of their aid was thirteen beautiful maidens of High Halleck to be taken as brides.
