It's Halloween, and Annie O'Hara would swear a black cat crossed her path. She has major appliances that need to be replaced, no customers in her antique store...and her ex-sister-in-law's monster dog, Claudius, to look after. At least she still has two boarders to help her make ends meet....

That is, until one of those tenants, May Upton, is found murdered on her property. As far as Annie knows, May had no enemies, but she did have a business partner--Annie's brother, Tom--who stands to gain $150,000 in insurance money with May's death.
