White Fire — Mitchell Chefitz

Allison, an aspiring writer, has stories within her too deep to grasp. Her mentor, Reuben, takes her to his synagogue, not at all like her church. He opens a Torah scroll and begins to read, not from the black letters on the parchment, but from the "white fire," the surrounding white space, bringing story after story to the surface. Each of the stories triggers a memory within Allison, memory after memory, until all barriers are removed. Her stories are then available, if she chooses to bring them to the surface. Tradition teaches that under each word of the Torah is an angel waiting to fly free once the mysteries associated with that word are unraveled. You are welcome to venture into the "white fire" and witness angels flying from holy letters.
