A young girl of eighteen set out on a journey of a lifetime, untouched and unspoiled by riches or fame. She traveled thousands of miles from her home in Tennessee without a chance to celebrate the beginning of adulthood. She stepped forward with an open heart and became heir to an estate in South Holland. Many a time of self-pity and doubt possessed her soul, forcing her countenance to gain a mulish aspect that made for many a turbulent time. She had an eventful life, to say the least. There was more emotional upheaval and crisis than most young women can handle, not Jade Dayton. She would never relent, fall back, or buckle under to any disruption in her plans. She plunged headlong into a war with an unscrupulous banker, causing her to believe him nothing but foul. After a time, she shook off her childish ways, which gave relief to her every purpose. She forged ahead with a passion somewhat inspired by her mother's insistence. Either by thought or prayer, there came two men into her life-one man cloaked in the manner of evil and one full of brass. She knew with sharp certainty that one of these two men would be her downfall, while the other, the bane of her existence. She found that she was partially right, but then again, no one is perfect.
