The tenants of Lois Meade's terrace house in Tresham are frustrated by their neighbor's feisty pet cockerel, Satan -- an early riser with a piercing voice. His owner, the elderly Clem Fitch refuses to part with his feathery companion -- and Lois' tenants are flying the coop. So it's a relief when her son Douglas gets a new job in Tresham and asks rent the house.
