When estate attorney Sarah Toreson starts hearing "beyond the grave" singing from internationally renowned opera star Alexander McLaughlin, she is both frightened and intrigued. Apparently killed in a plane crash, his body never recovered, McLaughlin is, Sarah senses, attempting to convey more than the restlessness of his spirit. Sent with a colleague to inventory his home and estate holdings, Sarah receives an envelope which contains a priceless, lost operatic work of composer Guisseppe Verdi. A ruthless attorney for an international crime boss, Alexander's jealous ex-wife, and a deep suspicion she's being watched and followed, force Sarah to turn to a burned-out police detective for help. He decides to believe Sarah's bizarre story, however, until one evening Alexander's presence "appears" to Sarah. Wild with jealousy, Alexander convinces her, he is not at all dead. Certain Alexander is in terrible danger, Sarah must discover the meaning of the Verdi score, evade the menace of an international gun-runner, and rescue Alexander, before he is killed. again.
