Virtual Intrigue is a science fiction thriller. I put the genre of the mystery novel in the context of science fiction. The world of virtual reality opens up a whole new world of possibilities in education, recreation and interaction. We're now at the birth of this new technology. Being a developer and having gone through the birth and maturity of microcomputers I've seen many parallels and similar trends in both industries.Like Virtual Reality, microcomputer software took its birth in video games. Looking into the future we will see the technology for many virtual reality applications spring from video games. Who can say where the world is headed with Virtual Reality, but it does have the potential to blur the boundaries between what we perceive and the actual world around us.Having studied Buddhism myself for many years one must sometimes have to question if we're not actually in a virtual world ourselves. This may seem like a ridicules notion to some. However, it's worth considering that our entire experience of the world around us is conveyed second hand through our senses. Are we really perceiving the world or interpreting it?
