End of the line. ARK ROYAL reaches its Ultima Thule at the uttermost fringes of the galaxy some 180,000 light years distant from Earth. It has taken more than 4,500 years of ship's time to get there. But I am not out of a few added surprises. QUIZZER's crew works out a new strategy which bids fair to eliminating wars of conquest and extermination in space. Skirmishing may occur but massed assaults are certain to lead to ultimate disaster for the attackers. We also have a mystery to resolve and an amazon society which is quite different from anything ever postulated. The final denouement will probably come as no surprise because it is inevitable. But it is at least fitting. In the preface to ‘Pod-11' I promised around 40 completely new or under used themes in science fiction. I believe I have more than fulfilled my promise and hope you are content with the result. If I have failed at least it is not from want of trying. My sincerest best wishes. GWH
