Turn Around Sunday is a story about two people headed in opposite directions when it comes to their religious beliefs. Sister Aurelia had a double tragedy in her life when she was eighteen. Her father was killed in a robbery and her uncle stole her college money. She feared that a world filled with violence and greed was not for her. She took vows and joined a convent in The Ramapo Mountains. Now she is thirty-six years old and realizing she has made a huge mistake. Nikolai Sokolov has been an atheist all his life. He works for the KGB and is stationed in The United States as a sleeper spy. When the Soviet Union falls apart in 1991, he is called home. But Nikolai has come to like life in the USA and refuses to return. He gets a job working for a Baptist church and begins to attend Sunday services. He falls in love with a woman at the church. Nikolai begins to wonder if maybe the God he didn't believe in has been guiding his life all along.
