Will Jones was horsewhipped, jailed, and damn near killed by two hired gunslicks, but he was determined to continue publishing the weekly newspaper established by his late uncle. There was something smelly going on behind the neatly painted, two-story false fronts of the small gold mining town of Maxwell, Colorado. The town's big shots were in cahoots and somebody was dealin' busted flushes.
And when Jones discovered his uncle's demise up in the wild and purple mountains had been no accident, he unholstered his .44-40 Navy Colt and went on the warpath. Jones believed in law and order and editorialized against vigilante justice. But suddenly he had to take the law in his own hands. And when he did he lighted the fuse to an explosion the little town would never forget!
