When a young boy dies following a seemingly innocuous fire at a tire recycling plant, his father comes to investigate. An agent with Select Environmental Tactical Analysis, Damon Alexander concludes that there is no logical reason that inhaling the smoke from the fire should have killed his son. SETA, a government group that monitors environmental problems, hones Alex's skills and his personal quest to find out what happened to his son. It leads him on a twisting journey of conspiracy, treachery, deception, and danger, as well as a race against time to stop the execution of a plan that could put the entire population of the greater New York area in mortal danger.
