When biologist Tudor Williams of the National Fish and Wildlife Service is assigned to a station in central Florida, she is not welcome at all. Her new boss, Alex Lowell, had expected a man -- not a girl -- to become his assistant. So he tries to convince her to leave.
But Tudor insists on proving her worth. And she quickly succeeds. She also succeeds in falling in love with Alex, a dedicated conservationist who works at his job twenty-four hours a day. Tudor, who is also devoted to her work, helps him solve many problems at the station.
There is only one problem she cannot solve -- how to compete with Alex's first love, the fascinating underwater creature that absorbs him completely as he fights to save it from extinction.
