Stacy (Anatasia) Morgan was a miniature copy of a woman with dark hair and giant childlike dark eyes, but in the opinion of Chad Jennings, she was the kind of girl to stand beside a strong, reliant man like himself.
But Chad had reckoned without one thing; Stacy was a girl with roots…six-year-old roots that she intended to keep. This house in Bradley was the first real house that Stacy had ever known. Before that, her life had been spent in trailer camps…wherever Wilfred Morgan's work as a construction man took him.
Now manager of a construction firm in Beadly for which Chad worked, Stacy's father was no longer a runner, and Stacy reveled in every facet of life that showed she was a part of Beadly. Going away from the town would be as unthinkable as cutting off her right arm.
Being Chad's wife -- living in the little house he owned on the outskirts of town -- would be only a continuation of her happiness and contentment.
Then Chad announced that his company, preparing him for an executive job, was sending him out of town…and Stacy's secure world collapsed about her. There was only one thing to do…give up Chad.
