So much has changed since the last time Lyric Blackwell has been to Stevens Island, but one thing has remained the same; she's still undeniably in love with Rufus Stone. She tries not to dwell on this too much, since he's also one of her best friends, but after her dad announces their long awaited move back to the island, her feelings for Rufus grow harder to ignore, and Rufus must finally face the truth that what he's always felt for her may be more than he ever expected. Added to that, he's having to deal with his mom's new boyfriend, who isn't exactly who he appears to be. Then in one horrific moment the foundation of their small island community is shaken to its very core.
