DAY OF JUDGMENT
Ex-nun Chris Bennett can't leave all of her charitable instincts behind, even if she has left the convent. But she'll need more than kindness when she begins helping three elderly people fight a harassing landlord on Manhattan's West Side.
When Chris can't get into Mr. Herskovitz's apartment to accompany him to Yom Kippur services, she discovers that her friend has been murdered. He was a lonely widower, estranged from his children, and since Chris took a special interest in his life, she is determined to do the same for his death.
The police arrest someone almost immediately, but Chris doesn't sing hallelujah yet. Despite her years in the Church, she is quickly learning the ways of the secular world: men and women forsake their souls, protect their sins, and never forget the past...
