This illustrated children's adventure book, originally published circa 1875 by McLoughlin Brothers of New York, depicts the real-life character of Sam Patch, America's first celebrity daredevil. Patch made amazing jumps from flagpoles, towers, and waterfalls during the 1820s, until his last fatal jump from Rochester NY's High Falls into the Genesee River in 1829. His stunts attracted thousands of people and made him an American folk hero to many.
