Brad Chapman, an enterprising Minnesotan who lives with his family in an American enclave just outside Moscow, views Russia as a land of unlimited opportunity. JorSov, the joint Venture he's formed with the Russians to rebuild the postal system, has been remarkably successful; but in a country that still associates profit with greed and capitalism with crime, the bottom line can be treacherous. When his Russian partner dies in a suspicious fall, Brad is imprisoned and officially charged with the theft of state property. Those in secret spheres of power consider him guilty of owning a profitable business - an offense that can lead, unofficially, to the most serious consequences.
