Few men at the turn of the century know southern Africa better than James Martingell. He also sells guns to the tribes which can afford them. When he is offered a fortune to deliver weap ons to would-be rebels in the Transvaal, James supposes his fortune is made. Instead, he finds himself on a slippery slope which leads through betrayal, imprisonment to open warfare and eventually murder before his fortune can be secured.
