A recent and brutal murder brings the past to life for DCI Webb
The discovery of a body in a pub car-park is an unpleasant reminder to DCI Webb that a strikingly similar incident occured some years earlier, and that the killer has still not been caught. Webb is hopeful of clearing up both cases at the same time, but his task is made more difficult by the publicly stated opinion of Frederick Mace, a wellknown criminologist, that the murders were committed by different people.
In a blaze of media interest the two men pursue their separate lines of inquiry, and another tragedy is only narrowly averted before both cases can be satisfactorily closed.
