Even before Leiala is born, she is marked. Marked by an omnipotent king to accomplish great things, and marked by an enemy who would like nothing more than to see her utterly ruined. As Leiala begins to learn about life and starts to grow, other characters vie for her attention: a host of spirits and emotions work tirelessly to influence Leiala and her life's journey. To further complicate matters, Leiala is totally oblivious to every activity and battle taking place- she believes every struggle in her life is a manifestation of her own actions. Journey alongside Leiala as she struggles through childhood and adolescence to become a young woman heavily influenced by the pressures of society. The Struggle is Real chronicles this transformation to adulthood but also takes it one step further by inviting readers to peek behind the curtains of Leiala's physical form to witness the very real (but often unnoticed) battles that take place.
