When lovely young Amanda Bishop landed in Le Havre expecting to be met by her Aunt Judith, she found only an empty dock, the rumor of her aunt's strange disappearance, and handsome Jem Kennet. Jem was also looking for Amanda's aunt, although he was actually more interested in a man whom Judith Bishop had been seeing.
But neither Jem nor Amanda could find any clues to help them until their search led them on a soul-chilling expedition through the streets of Paris. There they discovered both a missing will and the cat, Tobim the beautiful, tawny animal who seemed always to be underfoot, always about when accidents happened. And it wasn't long before Amanda and Jem began to suspect that perhaps this stealthy creature of the night was the cause of both Aunt Judith's frightening disappearance and the too nearly successful attempts on their own lives...
