The Shiva Suicides — David Lewis

Strange things are happening in Chicago. Two million dollars fall from the sky, hundreds of cars are given away by a wealthy US senator, and pure cocaine rains down on the city; all instigated by a mysterious character known only as Shiva. DIANA O'HARA's writing career is crippled by anxiety attacks and stops completely when she marries Hollywood producer, SEAN MADISON. Their daughter drowns in the pool of their Malibu dream-home and a distraught Diana is blamed, divorced, and ostracized. Weakened by increasing panic attacks, she flees home to a blue-collar town outside Chicago.
