Hybrids have multiplied despite the efforts of the HEP, or Hybrid Eradication Program, and now the problem has gotten worse: Interbreeding with humans. Tommy Sanders, who heads up what the UWO assumes is a failed attempt at stopping the creatures, gets a lucky break when he rescues William and Anita from a hijacked hopship. What he learns in the process surprises even himself.
