THE QUEEN WAS MARKED FOR DEATH --
But there was still one chance for survival.
Bracing herself, Kathryn let out a terrifying cry. Her shrieks echoed through the palace.
“A chair, a chair!” Henry roared. A moment later he was carried into her chamber.
Kathryn flung herself at Henry's feet, careful to lay her head against his good leg. “I had a nightmare,” she whispered. “I dreamed you'd tired of me.”
The candles cast a flickering glow over her face and white shoulders. Henry placed his hand caressingly on bare flesh. “My sweet Kate,” he said, squeezing her shoulder.
Kathryn Parr knew she was safe -- for the moment.
