A novel about the intrigue and romance surrounding Mary, Queen of Scots. Preedy was a pseudonym of Gabrielle Long, who also wrote as Joseph Shearing and was perhaps best known as the author Marjorie Bowen.
Mary Stuart, ill-fated Queen of Scots is influenced by four men: Lord Moray, her illegitimate half-brother; Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley; David Rizzio, her Italian servant; and James, Earl of Bothwell. The road leads finally to the Castle of Lochleven and Mary's terrible death.

Between them, they carried Mary Stuart to the pinnacles of glory and the depths of disaster and, finally, to the bleak Castle of Lochleven, there to await her terrible death - unloved adn alone.
