IT WAS HARD TO DETEST A WOMAN WHO SET HIS HEART TO POUNDING.
The apoplectic Lord Cartwright had some rather scathing comments for Samantha Adamson, "the scandalous meddler." But she hardly considered herself scandalous. She was, at most, determined. For as a matchmaker of skill, she did not meddle; she merely organized people's lives when they didn't have the sense to do so for themselves.
But her irreverent ways certainly earned the ire of Simon Cartwright, appalled at her flouting of every rule of polite society. Yet something else boiled inside this most determinedly civil gentleman--and he absolutely refused to fall in love. Despite clear evidence to the contrary!
