The opal-rich area of Southwestern Queensland at the turn-of-the century is the setting for Book Two in the Australian Destiny Series. Fortunes are made and hopes are dashed daily, as men and women match wits against the land, plying their trades in the mining towns and cattle stations of the Outback. Only the elusive Aborigines seem to know the secret of survival here.
Against this turbulent backdrop, an unlikely friendship forms. Marty Frobel, the son of a prominent area family, is able to rescue Pearl Fowkes, a preacher's daughter with aristocratic tastes. As time goes on, Marty must grapple with the sinister Ross Sheldon a greedy and unscrupulous landowner with grand political aspiration as well as all the problems that go with running his own cattle station, the Pinjarra. Meanwhile, Pearl leaves home with her sister to start a new life of her own.
NONE OF THEM ARE QUITE PREPARED FOR THE TRAGEDY THAT IS SURE TO CHANGE THEIR VALUES-AND THEIR LIVES!
